For that reason we are insistent that all dogs who visit us are current with all vaccinations, Rabies, DHPP/Dapp, and Bordetella. People often ask why we require the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination every 6 months and not every year that vets or other dog care places recommend. It is our understanding that the bordetella virus is much like our flu virus that is morphing all of the time. Those who sell vaccinations are constantly updating their vaccination to try to protect against as many strands of the virus as possible. While kennel cough is rarely fatal, it can be stressful and annoying for both the dog and their owners.
